Kapuso reporters had these comments on the post shared by Ramon Tulfo
Veteran broadcaster Ramon Tulfo shared his comment on the “matanda” issue involving GMA reporter Mariz Umali.
Mariz received a massive amount of bashing after she was accused of calling former Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea “matanda.” The latter served during the term of former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Medialdea visited FPRRD at the detention center in The Netherlands to face the International Criminal Court because of the crime against humanity accusation against him. However, he fainted and was taken by an ambulance.

A video of Mariz went viral online in which she said, “Tingnan mo yung matanda nakabukas yung mata niya kanina tapos nakita niya ako bigla niyang pinikit [laugh].“
Mariz already clarified that she never called Medialdea “matanda”. She pointed out that the uploader of the video just mis-heard her. The reporter stressed that what she said was, “Tingnan mo yung ‘mata niya’ [Medialdea], nakabukas siya nung una pero nung nakita niya ako, pinikit.”

Ramon Tulfo shared PEP’s Facebook post about this and the caption of his post did not sit well with Mariz Umali’s colleagues. “Tatanda ka rin, hija. At pagdating ng araw na yun pati kpys mo kukulubot,” the veteran broadcaster wrote in the caption of his post.

Kapuso entertainment reporter Nelson Canlas pointed out that the veteran broadcaster’s remark was inappropriate and this was echoed by reporter Aubrey Carampel who said that the comment from him was disrespectful.

Based on the article in PEP, many netizens also slammed Ramon Tulfo for that comment. They encouraged the broadcaster to check clearly what Mariz Umali said in the video and what he commented was “bastos.” “Sa dami ng pwedeng sabihin pati maselan na parte ng Babae eh aatakihin. Mahiya ka naman,” a netizen commented.
As of this writing, Mariz has not commented yet on the post shared by one of the Tulfo brothers.
