VP Sara Duterte Speaks on Dad Rodrigo’s Situation amid Detention
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President expressed that her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, is “charming everyone inside” the detention facility.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, following his arrest, is now under the custody of the International Criminal Court. The ICC issued an arrest warrant against the former Philippine President over the allegations against on his war on drugs campaign.
The drug war of the Duterte administration is linked to thousands of deaths. The former President has repeatedly expressed that he will take accountability of the war on drugs of his administration.
Following the arrest of former Pres. Duterte, it was the first time again that Atty. Harry Roque was spotted in public. He previously claimed that he will join the legal team of the former President and he promised to bring Duterte home.
However, on the side of the Palace, it encouraged the Filipinos to call for “Bring Roque Home” instead. The former presidential spokesman was cited in contempt by the House of Representatives for allegedly failing to submit the documents that would explain the growth of his wealth.
Former presidential spokesman Harry Roque said he will seek asylum at the Netherlands. He was first spotted talking with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who followed her father in the Hague, Netherlands.
Only Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and former executive secretary Salvador Medialdea have been allowed to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte inside the Hague Penitentiary Institution. Recently, the Vice President spoke about the situation of FPRRD inside the detention facility.
“I have to tell you: he is charming everyone inside. It’s his style, eh. He’s very friendly with people inside,” the Vice President said referring to FPRRD.
According to VP Sara, former Pres. Duterte already has a banter with the detention facility staff. Based on the report, with regards to his fellow detainees, the Vice President explained that the detainees all have a room and only one detainee stays per room.
“Yun ang pagkakaalam ko ha. Hindi ko lang alam kung they see each other somewhere sa hallway or saan sila kumakain,” she said.
Former executive secretary Salvador Medialdea is the listed legal counsel of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. However, recently, VP Sara announced the exclusion of Medialdea as well as Harry Roque in the legal team of Duterte.
