This is the statement of Julia Barretto regarding the allegations hurled at her and her YouTube show.
Actress-vlogger Julia Barretto releases a statement after a post accused her of shutting down a tourist spot for her vlog.
A netizen named Nikka Kho shared in a post what happened when they planned this trip only to be disappointed when Mantigue Island in Camiguin was shut down for a shoot of a celebrity. Kho added that what Barretto and her team did was selfish and entitled. This accusation reached Barretto, and recently she issued a statement addressing the matter.
As much as we all know, Julia’s YouTube channel is dedicated not only to her life’s highlights but also to a travel series called “Juju On The Go“. This series has already reached different parts of the country, and for its new season, one of the destinations is Camiguin.
“I have recently been made aware of false accusations regarding my involvement in temporary area closures during our shoot. A particular NIKKA KHO has publicly claimed that I ordered these closures, labeling me as entitled and selfish,” Barretto wrote in a statement.
She added that it was the local leaders who invited her over to showcase the island’s “rich history, culture, and natural beauty” through her show. She was only informed then about the closure and was not in any way involved with the decision of the local government.
Julia understood the decision that was a part of the local government’s commitment “to ensuring the success of their tourism initiatives.”
The statement added: “While I usually do not engage with baseless accusations, I will not tolerate misinformation that misrepresents my character, my work, or the purpose of Juju On The Go.”
She is currently seeking legal advice regarding the matter due to the spread of false and misleading information. This included contents uploaded on various social media platforms with fake audios to misrepresent her.
Addressing Nikka Kho directly, she expressed that she and anyone in her life wouldn’t have to deal with the “unfounded attack and cruel words” they have directed at her without first knowing the facts behind it. She stressed that words have weight and spreading false information can result in real harm.
