This is what VP Sara Duterte said about her father, ex-president Rodrigo Duterte.

Duterte’s arrest created a loud buzz online, both locally and internationally, as he is the first former Philippine head of state who was arrested as ordered by an international tribunal.

He was arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA 3).

On Tuesday night, the former president boarded a plane flying to The Hague, Netherlands. In there, the ICC would make him address the allegations linked to the “war” he started. The flight was arranged by Challenger Aero Air Corporation with pilots Captains Johnny Gulla and Elmo Segovia.

Vice President Sara Duterte reacted, and according to her, the former president was forcibly taken; such an action was a “blatant affront” to the nation’s sovereignty and “an insult to every Filipino who believes in our nation’s independence.”

She stressed that her father was “denied his fundamental rights.” She furthered, “As I write this, he is being forcibly taken to The Hague tonight. This is not justice. This is oppression and persecution.”

VP Duterte also slammed the current administration for allowing this to happen, which showed how willing the government was to abandon its people.

To recall, the infamous drug war has left at least 6,000 people dead, with 20,000 reported by human rights groups. The former head state led from 2016 to 2022 and denied any wrongdoing done to his policies. According to him, it was only aimed to protect the Filipino people from the scourge of illegal substances.
