Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Issues Statement on International Women’s Day
SARA DUTERTE – On International Women’s Day, the Vice President called for stronger laws for the protection of Filipino women.
Currently, there is a global celebration of the International Women’s Day. In the Philippines, several known personalities have released their statements in line with the celebration. One of them is Vice Pres. Sara Duterte whose impeachment trial is a huge issue in the country now.

On International Women’s Day, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte called for stronger laws to protect the Filipino women. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President urged that every sector should work together to achieve these strengthened rules for women protection.
Duterte expressed her hope that “government, private institutions, civil society, and individuals” will work together to achieve the goal. The Vice President also called on Pinoys to challenge “deeply rooted norms” that allow the violation of women’s rights.

According to the Vice President, the fight for the rights of women is not only bridging the economic and political gaps but also making sure that every woman and child is “protected, heard, and allowed to thrive.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte stressed that Filipino women are at the forefront of change not only in government service but as well as in strengthening the communities and making innovations. Based on the report, she stressed that violence based on gender remain hindrances to women empowerment.
“Together, let us build a future where no woman fears for her safety, where every girl can pursue her dreams without fear of violence, and where equality is not just a goal, but a lived reality,” the Vice President said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte further called on the public to continue push for a society that will create fair opportunities for everyone that are not based on gender, societal status, religion, and politics.
In the past few weeks, the Vice President is mum on the issues surrounding her. Previously, the prosecutors team said that they are ready for the impeachment trial of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
