Dog Owner Grieves After Losing 5 Dogs Due to Suspected Poisoning
A dog owner in Agoo, La Union, is grieving after losing her five dogs, who all died at the same time due to suspected poisoning.
Kate Bulacan was heartbroken when she discovered the tragic incident, which she believes was intentional.
On Saturday (March 1, 2025), a neighbor informed her that one of her dogs was found dead behind their house. Beside the lifeless dog was a food container, suspected to have been laced with poison.
Alarmed, Kate immediately checked on her other pets, only to find that they had also passed away. All five dogs showed signs of poisoning, including foaming at the mouth. The dogs, aged between one and five years old, were more than just pets to her, they were family.
Bulacan suspects that a neighbor, who owns gamefowl, might be responsible. According to Kate, there were complaints that her dogs had been attacking the fighting roosters, but she strongly denies this claim.
The dog owner insists that if her dogs were truly guilty, proper evidence should have been presented to the barangay instead of taking such a cruel action. She also pointed out that their area is an open space, meaning any stray dog could have been responsible for the alleged attacks on the roosters.
“Ang sabi nila pinapatay daw ng mga aso namin ‘yang mga manok. Ang sabi ko naman, maling-mali. Kung nagkasala man ang aso namin, may ebidensya sila, inano sana nila sa barangay,” Kate said.
Despite her grief, Kate is determined to file a complaint against the person responsible for poisoning her dogs.
Losing a pet is painful, but for Kate, the loss is even greater because her Mini Pinscher was her closest companion at home. She shared how her dog always slept beside her and even used a pillow just like she did.
“Hindi basta-basta ang nawala są akin. Hindi lang basta alaga lalo na yung Mini Pinscher, talagang siya lang ang kasama ko dito sa bahay. Pag natulog ako pati siya katabi ko. Minsan isa pa unan namin, kaya ang hirap,” she added.
