1 Suspect Arrested for Stealing Parked Motorcycle in Quezon City,
A 24-year-old suspect was arrested in Malabon after allegedly stealing a parked motorcycle in Quezon City.
The police authorities conducted a follow-up operation that led to his arrest, while three other suspects remain at large.
CCTV footage revealed that the motorcycle was parked outside a house in Brgy. Apolonio Samson when a van arrived. The vehicle stayed for about a minute, and although the camera did not capture the exact moment the suspects took the motorcycle, it was gone when the van left.
The motorcycle owner immediately reported the incident to the police. Upon reviewing nearby CCTV footage, he saw that a van had stopped near his vehicle before it disappeared.
Authorities immediately acted on the report and traced the stolen motorcycle, which was already being sold online.
During the investigation, the police found an online listing of the stolen motorcycle. Posing as interested buyers, they arranged a meeting with the seller, which led them through different locations, including Valenzuela and Caloocan, before finally reaching Malabon.
The police officers successfully recovered the stolen vehicle and arrested the suspect.
Meanwhile, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is actively searching for the three remaining suspects. Investigators are also looking into the possibility that the group is part of a larger syndicate specializing in motorcycle theft.
Authorities are considering whether this is an isolated incident or part of a new modus operandi targeting motorcycles. The police confirmed that this was the first time such an incident had happened in the area, making the investigation even more important.
The arrested suspect refused to give a statement and is now facing charges under the New Anti-Carnapping Law. The police continue to urge motorcycle owners to stay vigilant and ensure their vehicles are securely parked to prevent similar incidents.
