Underage Boy Snatches Passenger’s Cellphone From Vehicle in Taguig City
An underage boy was caught on camera snatching a passenger’s mobile phone from inside a vehicle in Taguig City.
Snatching means quickly grabbing or taking something from someone, often without permission. It usually happens suddenly and unexpectedly. This word is commonly used when talking about theft, where a person forcefully takes an item, such as a phone, bag, or wallet, from someone else and runs away.
People can avoid being victims of snatching by staying alert and keeping their belongings secure. Holding bags close to the body, not using phones openly in public, and being aware of surroundings can help prevent such incidents.
On Saturday afternoon (February 22, 2025), a robbery incident reportedly happened along C-5 Road and was recorded by a dashcam.
In the video, the suspect was seen loitering near the side of a bridge, seemingly waiting for an opportunity. As traffic slowed down, he suddenly ran toward a closed van, grabbed the phone from a passenger seated on the side, and quickly escaped.
After the incident, CCTV footage in East Rembo, Taguig, captured the suspect walking with another man who appeared to be taller than him. Another camera later showed the two crossing towards the direction of Pasig and Pateros.
Barangay officials in East Rembo stated that they do not recognize the individuals in the footage. However, they acknowledged that snatching incidents are common in the area. According to the barangay’s monitoring team, many of the snatchers caught in the past were not local residents.
Despite the theft, no victim has come forward to file a report with the barangay. However, authorities have been informed, and cases like this are regularly reported to the police.
The police departments of Taguig and Pasig have already launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant, especially in areas prone to such crimes.
