PAGASA Says Three Weather Systems to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that shear line, amihan, and easterlies will bring rain across the country.

On Thursday (February 20, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Three weather systems will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Chenel Dominguez reported that the shear line will be affecting Southern Luzon and Visayas, the Northeast Monsoon will affect the rest of Luzon and easterlies will affect part of Mindanao.

“Yung salubungan ng mainit at maalinsangang hangin at ng northeast monsoon ay ang nagreresulta sa tinatawag nating shear line na nakakaapekto dito sa eastern section ng southern Luzon, pati na rin sa kabuuan ng Visayas,” Dominguez said.

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Caraga, Laguna, Rizal, and Quezon.

Amihan will bring cloudy skies and rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora.

The northeast monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

“For Metro Manila at nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, particularly dito sa may Ilocos Region, asahan naman po natin ang maaliwalas na panahon pero hindi mawawala ‘yung mga isolated light rains or yung mga pag-ambon throughout the day,” she added.

The easterlies will bring similar weather conditions over the remaining parts of the rest of Mindanao.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon will be rough. Moderate to rough waters are expected over the rest of Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.

Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions are expected over the rest of the country, according to PAGASA.
