Father Shoots Child Over Son’s Quarrel, Injures 9-Year-Old in Navotas City
A 9-year-old boy was injured after being shot in the chest by the father of another child he had a quarrel with in Navotas City.
The incident began when a fight broke out between several children, leading to physical altercations. One of the children involved reported the matter to his father, who then decided to take matters into his own hands.
The father, along with two of his friends, confronted the two boys involved in the fight at Palengke Avenue.
During the confrontation, the suspect reportedly pulled out an improvised gun and aimed it at one of the children. While the boy ducked in fear, the gun discharged, hitting the other child in the chest.
The injured boy was quickly rushed to the hospital for treatment, and his condition is now being monitored.
Police launched an immediate manhunt for the three suspects involved. The gunman was eventually located at his residence after being identified by one of the children who witnessed the shooting. The suspect did not resist arrest when authorities arrived.
In his statement, the suspect expressed regret, saying he acted out of anger after his son returned home in tears, complaining about the fight. He admitted that his actions escalated beyond what he had intended and that he used an improvised gun he had purchased from a local resident.
“‘Yung anak ko po umuwing umiiyak. Siyempre po bilang tatay, nabigla po ako. Pinuntahan ko nga po ‘yung mga bata. Ang problema po, ‘yun nga, medyo napasobra. Sobrang galit po. Hindi ko po inaasahan na gano’n namang niyayari. Hindi ko po talaga sinasadya po ‘yun. Hindi ko po talaga gusto,” the suspect said.

The suspect now faces charges of frustrated murder. Meanwhile, authorities are continuing their search for the two other individuals who accompanied him during the incident.
