Couple in Antipolo City Lost Their Life After Being Hit by Police Mobile
A couple in Antipolo City, Rizal passed away after being hit by a police mobile along Marcos Highway, Barangay Inarawan.
On Monday afternoon (February 17, 2025), a couple, both 25 years old, lost their lives after their motorcycle collided with a police mobile.
According to Police Captain Alnor Tagara, the Investigation and Operations Chief of the Antipolo Component City Police Station (CCPS), the police mobile lost control while traveling along Marcos Highway.
It collided with the motorcycle carrying the couple and also hit a jeep that was involved in the accident.
The police mobile was headed towards Boso-Boso, while the motorcycle and jeep were coming from the opposite direction, heading towards Cogeo. Due to heavy rain and a wet road, the police mobile lost control and swerved into the path of the motorcycle and jeep.
“‘Yun pong nakikita nating dahilan katatapos lang po ng ulan at basa po talaga ang daan. May preno naman po na-lose control lang,” Tagara said.
After hitting the motorcycle, it caused the motorcycle to fly backward into the approaching jeep. While the jeep’s front part was damaged, the driver and passengers were unharmed.
The police maintained that the incident was an accident caused by the slippery road conditions, with the rain making the surface dangerous and causing the police vehicle to lose control.
Unfortunately, the male victim had celebrated his birthday the day before the accident. The medical team from Barangay Inarawan, the first to respond to the scene, confirmed that the victims suffered severe head injuries.
The male victim also had a possible fracture in his left leg, while the female victim sustained a possible fracture in her right arm. Both were declared dead at the scene.
The police officer driving the mobile, who has not provided a statement, is currently in custody and may face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicides and damage to property.
