PAGASA Says 4 Weather Systems to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that shear line, amihan, easterlies, and ITCZ will bring rain over parts of the country.

On Monday (February 17, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Four weather systems will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Rhea Torres reported that the shear line and the Northeast Monsoon are affecting Luzon on Monday while an Intertropical Convergence Zone will bring rains over Mindanao.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Batanes, Cagayan, and Apayao.

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Isabela and Aurora.

“Due to the continued effects of the northeast monsoon and the shear line, we may experience rainfall over the eastern sections of Northern Luzon,” Torres said.

The ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

For the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao, we still expect generally fair weather today, except for isolated thunderstorms, which are more likely to occur in the afternoon or evening,” Torres explained.

The easterlies will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

“At present, we are not monitoring any low-pressure area or tropical cyclone inside or outside the Philippine area of responsibility,” she added.

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Northern Luzon will be moderate to rough and the remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
