Mother Sentenced to Life for Selling Obscene Photos of Her Own Child

MOTHER – A mother has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of selling explicit photos of her own daughter.

A mother has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 86 for selling explicit photos and videos of her daughter online. The ruling, issued on February 4, 2025, also included a fine of P2 million for violating Republic Act No. 11930, also known as the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act.

The case was initiated after the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) flagged suspected Filipino individuals involved in online child exploitation. The Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted a thorough investigation, leading them to the mother. Authorities communicated with her through a messaging application, during which she offered to sell explicit content involving her daughter in exchange for money.

Following this discovery, law enforcement agents launched an entrapment operation that resulted in the arrest of both the mother and her husband. The husband was reportedly linked to the online payment account used for the illegal transactions. However, after reviewing the evidence, the court ruled that there was insufficient proof to establish his awareness or participation in his wife’s activities. As a result, he was acquitted.

In delivering the verdict, Acting Presiding Judge Roslyn Rabara-Tria emphasized that the accused mother, referred to as BBB in court records, failed to present any evidence in her defense. “The accused, BBB, failed to present any evidence in her defense,” the judge stated.

On the other hand, the court determined that the father, identified as CCC, had no direct involvement in the crime. “There was no proof that accused CCC was aware of his wife’s actions involving their daughter AAA’s photos and videos,” the judge noted.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla commended the prosecution team for securing a conviction against the mother. In a statement, he reminded the public of the serious consequences of child exploitation. “Parents have a moral and legal duty to protect their children from harm and exploitation. Those who betray this responsibility will face the full force of the law,” he said.

The case serves as a grim reminder of the importance of vigilance in combating online child exploitation and ensuring justice for the victims of such heinous crimes.
