Joining a beauty pageant is not just merely doing it to prove that one is physically pleasing and acceptable to be able to belong in such a field where physical beauty is one of the big factors. However, more than the beauty, there are also factors more important than this such as advocacy, initiative, and intelligence.
The most prestigious pageant in the world is Miss Universe and in the span of decades that it run, the Philippines has bagged four crowns already through Gloria Diaz (1969), Margarita Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018).
One of the female personalities from the show business industry who was pressed on to join is Gabby Garcia. She has the traits many people believed would be her great advantage. Now, what does she think of joining the local pageant Miss Universe Philippines?
According to the Kapuso actress, it is her childhood dream to have a Miss Universe crown. However, with everything in her life now, things have become complicated in pursuing this dream.
“It’s a childhood dream.”
This was always her response whenever she was asked about the same thing during interviews. It is her childhood dream and she has always envisioned herself winning the walk while wearing the crown.
However, being in the industry has made a lot of changes in her life, and in reality, things are much more complicated.
“I’m [in] my 11th year in the industry. It’s kind of more complicated at the backend. People do not see the behind the scenes which are more on the contracts, the papers, lockouts, brands, network, [etc.] so it gets complicated there,” she said.
Despite this, she is still not closing her doors. She is still weighing things on whether to grab an opportunity or not.
“We don’t know. Let’s see if maaayos or I don’t know if it’s the right decision or it’s just something that I really want. I have to weigh things,” she added.
