Sara Duterte Speaks After Impeachment Complaint: “God save the Philippines”

During a press conference, Vice President Sara Duterte has this to say about the impeachment raps.

Vice President Sara Duterte quips “God save the Philippines” as Senate trial looms after being impeached by the House of Representatives.

Brief but defiant was Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte during her first public appearance after she was impeached by the House Of Representatives. According to her, she is okay and has no ill feelings for the congressmen who she treats as her friends but signed the impeachment against her.

In her first press conference since her impeachment, she quipped, “God save the Philippines.”

The vice president even added that being dumped by a lover is still more painful compared to the impeachment complaint from the lower chamber.

Duterte shared that she’s been preparing for the proceedings since November 2023. This was after House Deputy Minority Leader France Castro of the ACT Teachers party-list revealed the plans to file a complaint.

The major allegations of the impeachment raps are:

  • Conspiracy to Assassinate President Marcos, First Lady, and Speaker Romualdez
  • Malversation of P612.5 Million in Confidential Funds
  • Bribery and Corruption in DepEd
  • Unexplained Wealth and Failure to Disclose Assets
  • Involvement in Extrajudicial Killings (Davao Death Squad)
  • Destabilization, Insurrection, and Public Disorder

Meanwhile, the prosecutors of the VP impeachment are:

  • Rep. Gerville “JinkyBitrics” Luistro (Batangas, 2nd District)
  • Rep. Romeo Acop (Antipolo, 2nd District)
  • Rep. Ramon Rodrigo Gutierrez (1-Rider Partylist)
  • Rep. Joel Chua (Manila, 3rd District)
  • Rep. Rau Angelo “Jil” Bongalon (AKO Bicol)
  • Rep. Loreto Acharon (General Santos, Lone District)
  • Rep. Marcelino Libanan (4Ps Party-list)
  • Rep. Arnan Panaligan (Oriental Mindoro, 1st District)
  • Rep. Ysabel Maria Zamora (San Juan, Lone District)
  • Rep. Lorenz Defensor (Iloilo, 3rd District)
  • Rep. Jonathan Keith Flores (Bukidnon, 2nd District)

In a previous article, a House lawmaker revealed it is uncertain as to who initiated the impeachment complaint against the vice president. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. also spoke about this and denied involvement in this matter.

The president stressed that the executive branch had “no role” in it. He was just surprised that his son Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos’ signatory was on top of the list.

  1. Let’s look at the facts. Are the allegations true? If true, she must be remove from her VP position. Let’s not deal with personality, only the facts.
