In her recent public appearance, Sara Duterte downplayed the complaint and lawmakers have these reactions.
Vice President Sara Duterte has this post-impeachment remark and some of the lawmakers who backed the complaints react to this.
Due to “violation of the constitution, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption, and other high crimes”, the House of Representatives impeached Vice President Sara Duterte. If convicted, she will be removed from her post and barred from public office.

215 of 306 House members signed and supported the impeachment complaint against Duterte with the signature of Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos on top of it. Some lawmakers from Mindanao also voted in favor of her impeachment and according to her, she has no ill feelings towards the congressmen who signed including those whom she treats as a friend.
In a previous article, Duterte spoke about the impeachment raps and quipped, “God save the Philippines,” adding, “Mas masakit pa ang maiwanan ng boyfriend o girlfriend kaysa ma-impeach ka ng House of Representatives.”
Several lawmakers who backed the impeachment complaint reacted to the defiant reaction of the vice president to the looming trial.

Akbayan Representative Perci Cendaña said that the remark is ironic to come from “someone who has consistently failed to save public funds from misuse, protect education from corruption, and defend our fisherfolk and front liners from China’s harassment in the West Philippine Sea.”
If there’s someone people should be saved from, it would be from her and her family’s corruption, incompetence, and impunity. Cendaña added that if she should seek salvation, she should begin by being truthful and accountable.
Deputy Majority Leader Paolo Ortega (La Union 1st District), and assistant majority leaders Jil Bongalon (Ako Bicol), Pammy Zamora (Taguig), and Jay Khonghun (Zambales 1st District) of Young Guns shared that the act of the vice president downplaying and dismissing the seriousness of the matter just showed how deeply anxious she was of the looming trial.
Her remark lacked substance and was done only with “vague, defensive quips” which miserably failed to address the major allegations. They will see her at the Senate impeachment tribunal.
Dangerous Drugs committee chair and quad committee co-chair Ace Barbers (Surigao del Norte 2nd District) stated that the articles have bases and pieces of evidence attached to them. Good government and public accountability committee chair Joel Chua, on the other hand, said that they are ready for her and her antics.
Deputy Minority Leader France Castro (ACT Teachers), Assistant Minority Leader Arlene Brosas (Gabriela), and Kabataan Representative Raoul Manuel of Makabayan bloc were “appalled” over the vice president’s “cavalier attitude” and even compared the serious matter to a mere heartbreak.
“We will see you in the impeachment court, Madam Vice President. There, you will have to face not a heartbroken lover, but the Filipino people demanding accountability.”
