Martin Nievera and ASAP celebrate their birthday today
Concert King Martin Nievera recalled the day when the Kapamilya Sunday musical variety ASAP was born on the same day as his birthday.
Martin was born on February 5, 1962, while ASAP’s first-ever episode was aired on February 5, 1995. The show featured four major artists, Martin, Pops Fernandez, Ariel Rivera, and Dayanara Torres. This is now known as ASAP Natin ‘To.
In an interview on Toni Talks, the YouTube talk show of Ultimate Multimedia Star Toni Gonzaga, Martin shared that he was the one who coined the title “ASAP” and gave the meaning “All-Star Sunday Afternoon Party.”
In an Instagram post on February 5, Martin Nievera shared a throwback photo with his former ASAP co-hosts.
In the caption of his post, he said that 30 years ago, the show was born. He also shared their humble beginnings. They did not have their own studio and equipment was not as proficient as now.
“We had no social media, no teleprompters, not even our own studio. We had to shoot every episode from a theater called the Delta Theater where we all shared one dressing room,” Martin shared.
The Concert King also stressed that ASAP has always been about family. It started with four faces but the family grew bigger and bigger. Everyone in this family worked together to overcome the storm and the rest was history.
“It is such a special fun fact for me to always celebrate my birthday on the same day as the birthday of my favorite All-Star Sunday Afternoon Party! Happy birthday asap! Let’s grow old together…” he said.
