PAGASA Says Amihan and Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that amihan will bring cloudy skies with rains over parts of the country.

On Saturday (February 1, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported that the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rains over parts of Luzon. Amihan will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley and Aurora.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Central Luzon.

The easterlies will affect the remaining parts of the country.

Meanwhile, Castañeda said that no low pressure areas (LPA) within or outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) as of February 1, 2025.

“Ngayong buwan ng Pebrero, posibleng wala or posible ding mayroon tayong isang bagyo na maaaring mabuo o pumasok sa loob ng ating area of responsibility,” Castañeda said.

However, one tropical cyclone may form or enter the area of responsibility this month. “Ayon sa ating monthly climatology track, itong bagyo na ito ay posibleng lumapit dito sa silangang bahagi ng Visayas at Mindanao,” Castañeda explained.

If the tropical cyclone enters PAR, it will be named “Auring,” the first in Pagasa’s list of tropical cyclone names. It’s possible that it may move far from the Philippine landmass.

“Posible rin naman na mag-curve at maging malayo sa anumang bahagi ng ating kalupaan,” she added.

The coastal water condition over Northern and Central Luzon will be moderate to rough. Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions are expected over the rest of the country, according to PAGASA.
