One of the country’s most sought-after and high-caliber stars in show business is GMA’s Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera. The recent film she did that showcased her notable acting prowess is “Balota”.
She portrayed the role of Teacher Emmy. The film is directed by Kip Oebanda and it tells the gripping story about a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral position of a small town.
Teacher Emmy serves in the elections and gets herself entangled in the wilderness to protect a ballot box that contains the last copy of the election results when violence erupts in their town.
Her acting in this film stood out and it made her gain a lot of Best Actress awards.

- Cinemalaya 2024 – She tied with Gabby Padilla in this category. Rivera was hailed for her performance as Teacher Emmy in “Balota” while Gabby got the nod for her performance in “Kono Basho”.
- Rising Filipino Awards 2024 – This achievement was received by Ms. Jacqui Cara, the Head of Operations of All Access To Artists on behalf of her.
- Gawad Pilipino Awards 2024 – She shared the award with Vilma Santos at the 3rd Gawad Dangal Filipino Awards.
- Esquire Philippines Actress Of The Year 2024 – She is Esquire Philippines’s Actress of the Year in 2024. Esquire quipped as they recognized her performance, “This isn’t a second wind; this isn’t her second prime. This is Marian Rivera simply being Marian Rivera”.
- Southeast Asian Premier Business and Achiever Awards 2024 – She received her “well-deserved recognition” in the said award-giving body at an event held at the Winford Resort and Casino Manila. This recognition accordingly cemented her status as “one of Southeast Asia’s most celebrated actresses”.
- Asia’s Golden Legacy Awards 2024 – The award-giving body also recognized her outstanding performance in the film.
- Tag Awards Chicago 2024 – She and other actors such as Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards were recognized.
- Primetime Media Awards 2025 Excellence In Performance – She bagged this award at the 4th Primetime Media Choice Awards.
