Male netizen goes viral on social media after posting a nostalgic photo of former Jollibee service crew members.
Recently, the Facebook page “Philippine Old Photos Collection” shared a post from a netizen named Tom Ong showing the former Jollibee service crew members. The post garnered various reactions from the internet users.
Ong recalled his time as a crew member at Jollibee SM Cubao’s food court basement in 1988. He was assigned as the griller, cooking up to 24 hamburger patties at a time using the old-style grill with a scoop.
The netizen worked alongside his colleagues, one handling the fryer for Chickenjoy and French fries, another preparing spaghetti and palabok, and someone else serving breakfast meals like longganisa.
The team barely had time to rest as customers lined up non-stop for takeout and dine-in orders. Their break meal often included burger scraps with rice, a common practice among crew members at the time.
By 9:00 PM, they would start cleaning up. One memorable incident he shared was when he slipped while carrying a gallon of hot Chickenjoy oil, but thankfully, a coworker caught him just in time, preventing a serious burn.
At around 9:30 PM, the team would sign out and walk home to Project 4, singing “Especially for You” by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan. When he got home, his mother was always happy to receive palabok and burgers as pasalubong for his younger sibling.
He would often sleep without taking a bath, worried about getting “pasma,” and would shower the next morning instead.
Aside from these fond memories, Ong also shared that Jollibee once gave them plates and glasses as crew giveaways. He later found out that these collectibles are now highly valued online, making him even more grateful for keeping them all these years.
