Richard Gutierrez talked about the story behind Incognito’s concept
Kapamilya action star Richard Gutierrez revealed that he wanted to be a soldier when he was young but this happened.
Richard came from a prominent showbiz clan in the Philippines. At a young age, he and his twin brother Raymond already had showbiz engagements. However, there was a time when the Gutierrez family stayed in the US and Richard started his studies there.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Richard shared that during his younger years, he aspired to be a soldier.
That was one of the factors behind the concept of his new Kapamilya series Incognito in which he played the role of a soldier. He created the concept with their director Lester Pimentel Ong.
In the series, Richard Gutierrez plays the character of a Navy SEAL who gets discharged due to his “involvement” in a mutiny and the son of a military general. Then, he was hired to lead a team doing covert missions for the government. In this series, he is working with his father Eddie Gutierrez.
Richard admitted that he got so interested in stories about private military contractors before. He started reading books about this and he did tactical training with some US, Australian, and then local special forces.
She shared that Incognito is a dream project for him because it was his dream to be a soldier. “Before, I really wanted to become a soldier. I was still in the States and doing martial arts at that time when I met a Pinoy, who was part of the US Navy. Ang ganda ng buhay niya sa America, so I got curious,” he revealed.
This ignited an intention in him to be a soldier. Richard researched about how he could become a soldier. He was so young at that time and his mother Annabelle Rama opposed his plan.
Annabelle decided to bring Richard to the Philippines and he resumed his studies here. Eventually, Richard ventured into showbiz and he is now in his 20th year in the industry.
“This became my passion when I realized that it’s an art form. Many people join showbiz pero nawawala rin ‘di ba? I think some people think that showbiz is like, ah ganun lang yan, acting ka lang whatever,” Richard Gutierrez said.
He added that acting is an art and action has another layer of art in acting. This is the reason why he became so passionate about this. The actor also shared that he developed an interest in cinematography and he got into photography and lighting.
