PAGASA Says Amihan and Easterlies to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that amihan and easterlies will bring cloudy to rainy conditions over parts of the country.

On Friday (January 24, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja reported that the Northeast Monsoon will be affecting Northern Luzon and Central Luzon while the easterlies will affect the rest of the country.

“Cloud clusters seen east of Mindanao are caused by the easterlies. Bring an umbrella as most of the island will experience rains,” said Estareja.

The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Caraga, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, Catanduanes, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains in Batanes. Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

“Take precautions against possible floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains,” Estareja explained.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.

The weather agency said that no low-pressure area is being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation within the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The easterlies will also bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over the entire country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA. No gale warning was raised over any of the country’s seaboard.
