“Ultimate Star” Jennylyn Mercado renews ties with GMA.
Well-loved actress Jennylyn Mercado, the “Ultimate Star”, renews her contract with the Kapuso network, and here’s what she said about this.
In the past few months, “Ultimate Star” Jennylyn Mercado was hounded with rumors regarding network transfer. However, before 2024 ended, she also put an end to this rumor. Mercado confirmed her renewing her contract with GMA.
She was in the GMA Christmas Station ID which elated her fans as this indicated that she is staying with her home network.
On January 21, this was made official as Jennylyn signed her new GMA contract solidifying her loyalty to the Kapuso network. This also extended her more than two decades of partnership with the media company.
The event marking this was graced by GMA President and Chief Executive Officer Gilberto R. Duavit Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong, Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, and Aguila Entertainment Chief Executive Officer Katrina Aguila.
“I am here. I am back. I am home. Kapuso pa rin, at taos-puso po tayong nagpapasalamat sa lahat ng mga tumulong sa akin, sa GMA sa patuloy na pagmamahal at pagtanggap sa akin,” Mercado said.
She is thankful to the network, its executives, and production staff – the people who were there with her in her two-decade career in the media giant. She expressed that she was aware of the speculations and rumors that have circulated online before about her supposed network transfer but she stressed that she is not going anywhere.
The path has always been clear to her and the path she will always accordingly take is the one that leads to GMA. She quipped, “Palaging sa GMA.”
To recall, the two-time Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Best Actress started her journey after winning “Starstruck” in 2003 as the “Female Ultimate Survivor”. Her rise to fame came with several acting awards and she even starred in some Kapuso primetime programs such as “Encantadia” (2005), “I Luv NY” (2006), “Super Twins” (2006), and “Love You Two” (2019).
For 2025, one of the projects she will be preparing for is “Sanggang Diki”, a series she will be working on with her husband actor Dennis Trillo.
