Vice Ganda On What Sets Her Apart From Other Comedians

In an interview, Vice Ganda shares what she thinks is her uniqueness as a comedian.

ABS-CBN comedian superstar Vice Ganda speaks about being a comedian and what sets her apart from the others.

Totoy from Tondo is now the Philippines’ Meme Vice Ganda. She is one of the country’s most famous comedians and how she made it to the top wasn’t a smooth sailing journey. Her break in show business did not happen instantly.

She started a career as a stand-up comedian in bars and is a superstar now. Her humble beginnings keep her grounded.

If now a comedian, she would probably be Atty. Jose Marie Borja Viceral. She took political science at the Far Eastern University but things in this aspect did not flow through. Her path took a turn and it led her to who she is now.

With her wit and sharp mind fueled by experiences, she was able to craft her art to make people happy. Oftentimes, her jokes are about real-life situations of the masses, hence, the established connection she has with the people. She lived through those experiences which is why her thoughts, jokes, and banters are relatable to a lot of people.

She believed that her social awareness was one thing that set her apart from the other comedians.

“Nung nasa comedy bar pa ako, [naging material ko] yung mga normal na nangyayari sa paligid at sa Pilipinas. Feeling ko that set me apart from other comedians. Hanggang ngayon bitbit ko pa rin yung awareness na yun,” she shared based on the feature in Preview.

As of today, she is no longer performing in comedy bars and she is not just a comedian alone. She performs on big venues and television and with her latest film “And The Breadwinner Is“, she is now a legit actor.

She expressed about her stature now, “I represent a show. I represent a network. I represent a company. Everything that I will do or say will not just affect me, but will, in fact, affect everything else.”
