Landlady Criticized for Restricting Tenants to Weekdays Only
The landlady criticized for prohibiting tenants from staying on weekends because the boarding house is reportedly closed during those days.
Recently, Mercy Rivera, a Facebook user, sparked reactions after announcing unusual rules for her tenants, stating they could only stay on weekdays. The post garnered various reactions from the online community.
According to the post, the boarding house is available only from Monday to Friday, as the premises are closed and locked every weekend. The boarding house, located in Lapaz near St. Therese, accommodates four tenants per room with double-deck beds, a private bathroom, free Wi-Fi, and no curfew on weekdays.
However, it’s strictly off-limits from 1 AM every Saturday until 6 AM the following Monday.
The rent is priced at P2,000 monthly, with water costing an additional P100 per month and electricity charges based on a submeter. Potential tenants are required to pay one month’s advance rent.
Visitors are allowed, and there’s no weekday curfew, but the weekend restriction has left many baffled.

Netizens were quick to express their opinions, questioning the practicality of such rules. Many argued that the policy defeats the purpose of providing housing, especially for those who need consistent accommodations.
Others joked about how the arrangement seems to treat tenants more like temporary guests rather than full-time boarders.
While some saw humor in the situation, others were more concerned about tenants possibly getting locked inside if they fail to vacate on time. The landlady explained in her post that the policy is due to the boarding house being padlocked every weekend.
