PAGASA Says Northeast Monsoon and Shear Line to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that cloudy skies and rains are expected over parts of the country due to amihan and shear line.
On Friday (January 3, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and the shear line will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio reported that the northeast monsoon will be affecting extreme Northern Luzon while the shear line will affect the eastern section of Central Luzon and the rest of Northern Luzon.
The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Palawan.
The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Cagayan, Isabela, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Aurora. Amihan will bring similar weather over Batanes.
“Inaasahan ang maulap na kalangitan na may mga kalat-kalat na pag-ulan at thunderstorms sa Batanes, sa Cagayan, Isabela, Kalinga, gayundin sa Apayao, Mountain Province, Ifugao at Palawan,” Aurelio said.
Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The shear line will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Ilocos Region and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Cagayan Valley.
“Samantala, ang nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, kasama na rin ang buong Kabisayaan at gayundin ang buong Mindanao ay makakaranas ng maganda at maaliwalas na panahon, kung saan bahagyang maulap hanggang sa maulap ang kalangitan, maliban sa mga isolated na pag-ulan o mga biglaang buhos ng ulan,” he added.
The northeast monsoon may intensify within the next two to three days and will continue to affect Northern Luzon.
The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila and the rest of the country. Possible flash floods or landslides are expected due to severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over northern Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions. No gale warning was raised in any of the country’s seaboards, according to PAGASA.
