Kapamilya superstar Vice Ganda has this to say about the success of his film “And The Breadwinner Is” and the demolition job against it.
“And The Breadwinner Is” is a heartwarming film that is relatable to families and breadwinners, especially, hence, the figures in terms of gross. It topped the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival in earnings and lead actor Vice Ganda has nothing but deep gratitude to the people who supported it.
In this film, people saw a different version of Vice. From doing slapstick humor, he transitioned to being a dramatic actor which gained positive reviews from a lot of people. The Jun Robles Lana-directed movie went beyond comedy – there’s heart and humor in the story which finds balance in making the audience laugh to making them emotional as they can relate to the struggles of being a breadwinner.
“Thank you so much for making us number 1,” says Vice in a recent episode of It’s Showtime.
According to him, there have been a lot of organic posts and reviews that surfaced after the movie was shown in cinemas. This resulted in more people watching the film as they also got curious about the drama that got many in tears.
Reading the positive feedback brought him to tears as well, and, at the same time, he was elated about it. However, on December 28, a demolition job for the movie was done but was weighed down by positives. The positive comments drowned the negativity and eventually, the film stayed on top despite the sabotage others attempted.
“Hindi nila napuksa yung mga totoong organic na videos ng mga totoong nakapanood. Hindi nila nasira yung momentum kasi may nagbalak manira ng momentum pero hindi,” the comedian expressed on the episode.
