‘Uninvited’ was snubbed in the awarding and Luis Manzano has this post.
No nomination, no award? Luis Manzano has this to say about ‘Uninvited’ following the end of MMFF 2024 Gabi Ng Parangal.
A lot of moviegoers attest to the ‘Uninvited’ as a gripping masterpiece of revenge starring some of the biggest stars of the industry such as Vilma Santos, Aga Muhlach, and Nadine Lustre.
‘Uninvited’ is one of the official entries of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 or the MMFF 2024, which, at the same time, is its 50th year. As per Inquirer, this movie is “an emotional battleground that aims to explore all the disturbing themes that can happen in a community”.
Santos, as a mother whose pursuit to revenge her daughter killed in ways unimaginable, was a vision of grief and torment. This happened under the hands of Guilly, the billionaire character of Muhlach.
In this film, Muhlach got out of his good-boy roles and opted to portray someone sinister. As the main villain of the film, he was outstanding. From the well-loved roles, he became a monster and delivered flawlessly.
However, despite this being a masterpiece, the film did not receive any acting awards or nominations from Gabi Ng Parangal which surprised some including Luis Manzano. It, however, received the Best Float award and tied with ‘Topakk’.
“Labo , kahit nomination,” says Luis in the caption when he re-shared a post where a part of the sharer’s opinion said:
“Uninvited was robbed. Now before anything else, just a disclaimer, I do believe that some of the other winners were deserving (called Green Bones for best picture, deserved) and congrats on the wins. But you’re honestly telling me that the one film that really pushes the boundary on its social and political commentary gets utterly snubbed? C’mon!”
