Many people have been talking about eating 12 grapes on New Year, what are the things to know about this?
12 GRAPES ON NEW YEAR – 2025 is just around the corner and many people are planning to do this kind of tradition.
Across the world, there are a lot of traditions to celebrate and welcome a brand new year. There are some things to do like kissing at the stroke of midnight, singing “Old Lang Syne”, and many others. And in a lot of Spanish-speaking countries, one of the most popular traditions is to eat grapes as fast as possible.
The “twelve grapes” tradition comes from Spain and is called las doce uvas de la suerte (“The Twelve Lucky Grapes”). The 12 grapes is for the 12 months for the coming year to ensure good luck. In this tradition, you must eat the grapes on the stroke of 12 one at a time at each chime of the clock.
You have to finish all the grapes within the minute to have luck, success, and positive energy in the new year.
Bretman Rock tried this tradition and he attested that this is effective. He did this in 2023 and it ultimately led him to find his partner. He shared this in The Baddest Radio podcast.
He revealed, “There’s like this big belief that you eat 12 grapes under the table during New Year. At the strike of 12, you have a one-minute window to eat 12 grapes. You do it with a corresponding underwear. If you wear red it’s love, green is for money, yellow is for health I believe, and there’s other things.”
Bretman wore red while eating the 12 grapes and he is now in a happy relationship with Justice Fester.
