Vilma Santos Not Expecting A Win From MMFF 2024

“Star For All Seasons” Vilma Santos not expecting to win any award.

MMFF 2023 Best Actress Vilma Santos is not expecting any award to win in this year’s Gabi Ng Parangal event.

The Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 is in its 50th year and is set to hold its annual Gabi ng Parangal (Night of Honors) on Friday night, December 27 at the Solaire Grand Ballroom in Parañaque. In this year’s roster, the films featured covered different genres for the moviegoers.

This is one of the highlights of the film festival where outstanding films, performances, and technical contributions are recognized and honored. Awards such as Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, and technical categories like Best Cinematography and Best Production Design are expected to be handed out.

In the MMFF 2023 list of winners, the Best Actress winner was Vilma Santos for “When I Met You In Tokyo”. Will she be the winner again for this year? Santos is among the leads of “Uninvited”, a thriller movie alongside Nadine Lustre and Aga Muhlach.

Asked if she is expecting, the Star For All Seasons admitted that she is not and she is not thinking about it at this point in time. What matters to her now is not to compete but to do her role. All they want is to deliver a good movie.

In the said film, she was challenged to do a heavy drama and even got high blood pressure while doing it. There was emotional tension because of the scenes and moreover, it was also unexpected for them to join the official entries this year.

“Ang gusto lang namin is to really do a film na something different, something challenging, yun ang intention. I guess, it’s just fortunate na nahabol nila at natanggap, so heto na naman,” she shared.

Meanwhile, in this year’s Gabi Ng Parangal, among those who walked the red carpet included GMA Network Senior Vice President Annette Gozon-Valdes, GMA Public Affairs First Vice President and GMA Pictures Executive Vice President Nessa Valdellon, “Green Bones” director Zig Dulay, and National Artist Ricky Lee.

“Green Bones” stars Dennis Trillo arrived with his wife Jennylyn Mercado, Ruru Madrid with his girlfriend Bianca Umali, and other cast members Sofia Pablo and Royce Cabrera.
