According to SWS, New Year 2025 for most adult Pinoys is with hope.
NEW YEAR 2025 – The Social Weather Stations (SWS) poll showed that around 90% of adult Filipinos are hopeful as they welcome 2025.
The new year is just around the corner and this marks the beginning of a new year full of opportunities, challenges, and fresh experiences. In the Philippines, this is best celebrated with family as nothing beats this celebration that to be surrounded by the people we love and who love us.
This time also brings new year resolutions when people reflect on their goals and aspirations. This is made to improve different aspects of their lives, from health to career to relationships.
In the December 12-18 poll of the Social Weather Stations (SWS), most adult Filipinos are welcoming the new year 2025 with hope. This is 6 points below compared to the 96% in 2023 and the lowest since 89% in 2008.
As for the remaining 10% of the population, they have fear as the new chapter begins which is higher by 7 points from 3% in 2023, and the highest since 11% in 2009.
The result also reflected that 65% of adult Filipinos expected a happy Christmas this year. Those who expected Christmas to be neither happy nor sad are at 87% and those who expected a sad Christmas are at 74%.
