PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Friday (December 20, 2024)
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that three weather systems will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Friday (December 20, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Three weather systems will affect the country’s weather condition.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that a low-pressure area, shear line, and northeast monsoon will ring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over parts of the country.
A low-pressure area was spotted over the coastal waters of Mahinog, Camiguin. The shear line will affect the eastern section of Southern Luzon and the northeast monsoon will affect the rest of Luzon.
The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.
“Magiging maulan din sa malaking bahagi ng Visayas dulot ng epekto ng shear line at low pressure area. Magiging maulan din sa Palawan ngayong inaasahan nating kikilos nga papalapit sa bahaging ito ng ating bansa yung LPA,” Badrina said.
The shear line will bring similar weather conditions over the Bicol Region, Quezon, and the rest of MIMAROPA.
“Sa malaking bahagi ng Bicol kasama ang Quezon Province, lalawigan ng Occidental, Oriental Mindoro, gayundin ang area ng Marinduque at Romblon ay magiging maulan sa araw na ito dulot ng shear line,” Badrina added.
The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora.
Amihan will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.
The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern and western sections of Northern Luzon will be rough. Moderate to rough coastal waters are expected over Visayas and the rest of Luzon.
Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions are expected over Mindanao, according to PAGASA.
