Before the start of his “Pure Energy: One More Time” concert, veteran singer Gary Valenciano suffers from vomiting, and here’s an update.
“Pure Energy: One More Time” is a repeat of Gary Valenciano’s successful “Pure Energy: One Last Time” concert which was held at the Mall of Asia Arena. The repeat is set for December 20 and 22 at the Araneta Coliseum.
However, hours before the start of the show, he ingested something that made him vomit for a couple of hours. He wasn’t initially sure if he could do it but still, he decided to push through. There were doctors backstage ready for whatever might happen as he had an IV.
Pangilinan asked for prayer stating, “But he has since sang six songs.. changing the repertoire … please continue to pray.”
In another post, she gave an update and assured the people that he is now okay. He vomited eight times today and is weak but she was there with him throughout. They are making sure that diabetic ketoacidosis is not happening.
“A Type 1 diabetic goes through serious medical issues and we couldn’t afford what we call diabetic ketoacidosis so we are making sure he balances everything in a while,” she wrote.
Diabetic ketoacidosis, according to Mayo Clinic, is a serious complication of diabetes that “develops when the body can’t produce enough insulin and without enough insulin, the body begins to break down fat as fuel”. This leads to a buildup of acids in the bloodstream and results in this condition if left untreated.
This life-threatening problem affects people with diabetes and some of the most common symptoms include thirst, frequent urination, need to throw up and throwing up, stomach pain, weakness or tiredness, shortness of breath, and confusion.
