Authorities Arrest Two Construction Workers Arrested for Alleged Cable Theft in Pasay
THEFT – Two construction workers were arrested after being caught stealing electric cable in Pasay City.
On Tuesday evening (December 17, 2024), two construction workers were arrested after being caught cutting an electric cable along Atang Dela Rama Street in the CCP Complex, Pasay City. Hotel security guards reportedly caught the suspects in the act, leading to their immediate arrest.
One of the suspects, a 30-year-old man, admitted that he planned to sell the stolen cable, valued at around P1,000, to a junk shop to buy alcohol. “Nagkatuwaan lang po kasi kasi nga nakainom kami eh wala na kaming pambili ng alak. Kaya kinuha po namin yung kalakal doon,” he said.

He shared that they resorted to theft as they were already drunk and could no longer afford more drinks. This was not his first offense, as he had also been arrested in 2023 for illegal gambling.
His accomplice, a 19-year-old man, explained that he intended to use the money from selling the cable to support his pregnant wife. He expressed regret for their actions, saying that they were resigned to spending Christmas in jail as a consequence of their choices.
“Malungkot na sa kulungan na lang kami magpa-Pasko. Panindigan na lang po. Wala po kaming magagawa eh. Ginusto po namin,” the suspect said.

Besides working in construction, he also earns a living by collecting and selling scrap metal. During their arrest, authorities confiscated a cutter and a pair of pliers, which were used to cut the cable.
Both suspects are now under the custody of the Pasay City Police Station. They face theft charges for their actions.
