Pastor Apollo Quiboloy Independent Candidate for Senator in 2025
Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is one of the senatorial aspirants in the Commission on Elections (Comelec) final list of candidates for senator in the 2025 Midterm Election.
Countless people were shocked when Pastor Quiboloy filed his candidacy for senator in the 2025 Midterm Elections. He filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) despite his detention.
Quiboloy was arrested in September amid several charges filed against her. Reportedly, there are also cases filed against the Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder and leader in abroad. He was in hiding for several months.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) conducted intensified search operations at the KOJC compound in Davao City in the pursuit to search for the Pastor. The search operations reportedly included drilling activities inside the compound.
Last September 8, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy was arrested by the PNP authorities. He was brought to the PNP Custodial Facility for his detention. His camp previously sought for a house arrest for the Pastor but the Court denied it.
More than a week ago, the Pastor Quiboloy was brought to the hospital due to chest discomfort and rapid heartbeats. The Court granted his camp a medical furlough so he can be checked.
The Court also granted his camp’s request for an extension of the medical furlough due to a dental implant infection. Upon his return to detention, the Pastor was transferred to Pasig City Jail as per the order of the court.
With regards to his senatorial bid, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is running as an independent candidate for senator. He withdrew his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) under the workers’ and peasants’ party (WPP).
Recently, the Commission on Elections released the final list of the senatorial aspirants in the 2025 Elections. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy is one of the candidates for senator in the Comelec final list.
According to Comelec Chairman George Garcia, 117 senatorial aspirants were considered as nuisance candidates and the Supreme Court has not issued any temporary restraining order. The final list of the Comelec is composed of 66 candidates for senators.
“Sixty-six po ang ating senatorial aspirants at ‘yan po ay ilalabas namin ‘yung ballot faces next week. Makikita niyo more or less ‘yung mga picture ng balota ng bawat bayan,” he said.
