Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Claims NBI Investigation is Allegedly Unfair
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President broke her silence on skipping the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) probe anew.
The National Bureau of Investigation or NBI has rescheduled its investigation over the remarks of Vice Pres. Duterte against Pres. Bongbong Marcos from November 29 to December 11. However, still, the Vice President refused to appear at the probe.
Prior to the investigation, Vice Pres. Duterte already said she will skip the NBI probe for a thanksgiving party and the burial of her uncle. According to the Vice President, after the party, she will be going home to Davao to attend the funeral of her uncle.
Only the lawyer of Vice Pres. Duterte, Attorney Paul Lim, arrived at the headquarters of the National Bureau of Investigation today. He submitted a letter stating that the Vice President denies the allegations against her.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is summoned by the NBI over her “threats” against Pres. Bongbong Marcos as well as First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House Speaker Martin Romualdez. As for her, there is no “active threat” in her statement.
Duterte claimed that she wants the death of Pres. Marcos, the First Lady, and the Speaker if an alleged plot against her life succeeds. It caught the attention not only of the NBI but as well as the Department of Justice (DOJ).
However, the NBI refused to accept the letter of Duterte as her sworn statement. NBI Director Jaime Santiago affirmed that her absence at the hearing waived the right of the Vice President to be heard over the matter.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte broke her silence on her recent absence at the NBI investigation. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President claimed that the investigation bureau has allegedly made the decision already to file a case against her even prior to the investigation.
“The NBI has decided to file cases against me even before they started their investigations,” Duterte said.
Vice Pres. Duterte further expressed her belief that the investigation will not be safe. According to her, she and her camp believe that cases will be filed against her.
“Kahit pa sabihin nila na may imbestigasyon, sa umpisa pa lang ay may desisyon na sila na mag-file ng cases,” the Vice President said.
Following her absence at the hearing, the NBI has also spoken on the letter sent by the camp of VP Sara Duterte.
