Working Student Opens Up Challenges of Balancing Work and Academics
A working student opened up about the challenges of juggling work and academics, saying, “Nakakapagod sobra Minsan parang Di ko na Kya bumangon sa umaga.”
A working student is someone who studies while also having a job. They do both to help pay for their education, support their family, or gain work experience. Juggling school and work can be tough because it means managing classes, homework, and exams while also doing their job.
Some working students have part-time jobs, while others work full-time or find flexible hours to fit their schedules. It’s not always easy, but being a working student teaches important skills like time management, determination, and responsibility.
Recently, a Facebook user Dondy shared his inspiring story as a fourth-year BS Criminology student while also working as a vendor during his free time. The post quickly circulated online and elicited comments from netizens.
Despite the difficulties brought by financial struggles, Dondy emphasized that determination, hard work, and faith can lead the way to success. Balancing work and studies hasn’t been easy for him.
There are times when he feels completely drained and barely able to get up in the morning. He recounted instances of sleeping for only two hours because he spent the entire week working and studying.
Dondy draws strength from the thought of his sacrifices and how far he has already come, despite still having a long way to go.
