House panel requests verification of this matter related to the confidential funds of Sara Duterte in the Office Of The Vice President.
SARA DUTERTE CONFIDENTIAL FUNDS – Recipients in the confidential funds of the Office Of The Vice President (OVP) need verification.
Vice President Duterte is facing 2 impeachment complaints in the House of Representatives. The first impeachment complaint against the vice president was filed in a 50-page impeachment complaint crafted by religious leaders, sectoral representatives, and families of drug war victims. This was endorsed by Akbayan party-list Rep. Percival Cendaña.
The second impeachment complaint against Duterte came from around 75 complainants from various sectors. The submitted complaint was related to the alleged misuse of Php 612.5 million in confidential funds.
A third one is looming but has not been filed yet and amid these, Duterte’s Office Of The Vice President (OVP) is facing a probe regarding the alleged misuse of confidential funds and the irregularities in the acknowledgment receipts.
Recently, the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability 677 names of other alleged recipients of confidential funds from the offices of Duterte have been forwarded to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for verification.
This is after PSA confirmed that “Mary Grace Piattos“, an alleged recipient of the CF, has been found to have no birth record.
The acknowledgment receipts had a total of Php 612.5 million in confidential fund expenditures – Php 500 million for the OVP from late 2022 to the third quarter of 2023 and Php 112.5 million for the Department of Education in 2023.
The verification from the PSA is crucial to determine the validity of the ARs.
Mary Grace Piattos, if proven a fictitious identity, would create serious implications for OVP. There would be an element of fraud but to some lawmakers, to hear the PSA’s discovery is no longer surprising.
