Pres. Bongbong Marcos, INC Share the Same Ground on Sara Duterte Impeachment Complaints
INC – The Iglesia ni Cristo announced that they will hold a rally to oppose the impeachment moves against Vice President Sara Duterte.
The impeachment complaints against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte earned different reactions from ordinary citizens, groups, authorities in the different fields, and many other individuals and entities. Currently, there are two (2) impeachment complaints filed against the Vice President.
According to the House of Representatives, they have no choice but to process the impeachment complaints against Vice Pres. Duterte. The first complaint filed has 16 signatories which include individuals who are coming from different civil society groups.
The grandson of Ninoy Aquino, Kiko Aquino Dee, is one of the signatories in the first impeachment complaint filed against Duterte. The second impeachment complaint has over 70 signatories.
Previously, after a House member claimed that an impeachment plan against Vice Pres. Duterte is on the works in the lower chamber, Pres. Bongbong Marcos admitted that he is not in favor of an impeachment plan against the Vice President. His statement came even after Duterte has thrown tirades against him and his family.
According to Pres. Marcos, an impeachment complaint will only tie up the House of Representatives and the Senate but will allegedly not do any good towards the Filipino people. He stressed that the Vice President is allegedly “unimportant” in the big scheme.
Marcos Jr. admitted that he sent a private message to the House members over the issue. Recently, Iglesia ni Cristo or INC which is one of the biggest churches in the Philippines expressed its side on the issue.
Based on a report on GMA News, INC expressed its support on the stand of Pres. Bongbong Marcos over the impeachment moves against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to the church, the Philippines is faced with several problems that must be given priority.
The INC revealed in its statement that their members are preparing for a rally to show their support to the statement of Marcos Jr. over the impeachment complaints against Duterte.
“Ang mga kapatid sa INC ay naghahanda na magsagawa ng rally upang ipahayag sa lahat ng kinauukulan na ang INC ay pabor sa opinyon ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na hindi sumang-ayon sa isinusulong ng ilang sektor na impeachment dahil maraming problema ang ating bansa na dapat unahin ng pamahalaan,” Iglesia ni Cristo said.
Furthermore, based on the report, the Iglesia ni Cristo stressed that their church is for peace. They do not want any kind of turmoil coming from any side.
“Ang INC ay para sa kapayapaan. Ayaw natin sa anumang uri ng kaguluhan na manggagaling sa anumang panig,” the church said.
Former Senator Leila de Lima who is a staunch critic of the Duterte administration’s drug war is the spokesperson of the complainants behind the first impeach complaint against Vice Pres. Duterte.
Former Sen. De Lima stressed that her being a spokesperson of the complainants against Vice Pres. Duterte is not an act of revenge. She stressed that she is not vengeful and her lawyers are already weighing on the case that she can file against the former President.
