VP Sara Duterte To Face Third Impeachment Complaint?

A third impeachment complaint against VP Sara Duterte is looming.

VP SARA DUTERTE – The first and second impeachment against the vice president has been filed and there’s a third one looming.

Previously, the first impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte was filed and endorsed by Akbayan party-list Rep. Percival Cendaña. A 50-page impeachment complaint crafted by religious leaders, sectoral representatives, and families of drug war victims was submitted.

This covered the alleged crimes and irregularities involving corruption and misconduct.

On December 4, the second impeachment complaint against the vice president was filed. Around 75 complainants from various sectors filed this on the grounds of alleged misuse of Php 612.5 million in confidential funds.

House Secretary General Reginald Velasco confirmed that his office received the complaint centering on allegations of “abuse, misuse, and wastage” of confidential funds; systematic cover-up of such actions through fabricated accomplishment reports, receipts, and documents submitted to the Commission on Audit (COA); and deliberate obstruction of congressional investigation and oversight.

Velasco, recently revealed that a third one is looming from some congressmen. He did not give further details but he was informed that this will be filed no later than next week. There was an agreement that this would remain confidential until the filing happens.

“Malalaman natin next week kung itutuloy nila ‘yung complaint na ifa-file nila,” Velasco said.

Amid the impeachment raps against Duterte, Palace distanced itself from and stressed that it doesn’t have anything to do with it. President Bongbong Marcos has called out lawmakers previously discouraging them from filing an impeachment against Duterte stating that the controversies involving the vice president were just a “storm in a teacup”.

Meanwhile, the impeachment complaints add to what she is already facing – probes regarding her alleged death threats to the president and another inquiry into her use of government funds.
