Man Suffers Injuries After Being Stabbed by Former Partner’s Live-In Partner
A man was injured in Sampaloc, Manila, after being stabbed multiple times by the live-in partner of his former romantic companion.
According to the police, the victim was seated outside his home when the attacker suddenly approached and stabbed him without warning.
The investigation revealed that the suspect arrived on a tricycle and step off near where the victim was sitting. The suspect wasted no time and launched the attack, stabbing the victim repeatedly.
After the assault, the suspect fled the scene with the tricycle driver. The victim’s brother tried to chase them but was met with another terrifying encounter. He caught up with the tricycle driver, who turned out to be a minor, but the suspect returned and threatened him with a knife, allowing both of them to escape.
A follow-up operation led authorities to track down the minor driver at a cemetery in Sta. Cruz, while the suspect was apprehended in Barangay 372. The police also recovered the weapon used in the crime, a balisong knife.
Further investigation revealed a possible motive behind the attack. The victim was previously in a relationship with the suspect’s live-in partner. The suspect claimed that he discovered his partner’s infidelity last year while working as a construction worker in Rizal.
Although they reconciled, tensions remained. The suspect alleged that the victim would deliberately taunt him whenever they crossed paths, which may have fueled the crime.
The victim is currently recovering from stab wounds to his shoulders and underarms. The suspect is now in the custody of the Manila Police District Station 4 and faces charges of attempted murder.
