2nd impeachment complaint against VP Sara Duterte to be filed.
VP SARA DUTERTE – Groups want the vice president to be impeached following the and she is set to face the second one to be filed.
As much as we all know, Vice President Sara Duterte is in hot water currently due to her alleged misuse of public funds as head of the Office of the Vice President and as former education secretary. Previously, she was heading the Department Of Education and it has been found that several there are irregularities in the acknowledgment receipts (ARs) for OVP and DepEd’s confidential fund expenses.
One of the ARs indicated the name Mary Grace Piattos, a recipient of CF, and there was also Koko Villamin who received CFs both from DepEd and OVP but used different signatures.
On Monday, Akbayan party-list Rep. Percival Cendaña endorsed a 50-page impeachment complaint crafted by religious leaders, sectoral representatives, and families of drug war victims to the House of Representatives’ Office of the Secretary General on Monday, December 2.
Akbayan Rep. Perci Cendaña stressed that this is a “critical juncture in our nation’s demand for accountability” while former senator Leila de Lima believed that this is the right time to impeach the vice president.
This is the first impeachment complaint against VP Sara which reflected several grounds: culpable violation of the constitution, graft and corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes.
The VP is set to face a second impeachment complaint to be filed by Makabayan Coalition before the House of Representatives on December 4. According to Kabataan Rep. Raoul Manuel, the Makabayan Bloc received support from various organizations and sectors for this move.
Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) will lead the filing of the impeachment case on Wednesday. As much as we all know, the filing is just the start of a long process that may remove her from office if successful.
In a previous article, Malacañang spoke about the impeachment case and as per their statement, “The Office of the President has nothing to do with it.”
