Vic Sotto shared what his initial reaction to ‘The Kingdom’ was offered to him
Veteran comedian-TV host Vic Sotto admitted that Kapamilya A-list actor Piolo Pascual strengthened his decision to accept the movie The Kingdom.
After taking a break for several years in doing movies for the Metro Manila Film Festival, Vic is returning this year with a genre of movie he never has done before. In the past, Bossing’s MMFF entries became blockbuster hits and mostly he did comedy and fantasy genres.
This year, he will showcase another side of him as an actor. In a previous interview, the veteran comedian-host revealed that he and Piolo did not have their bonding moments on the set. It is because of their characters who are definitely not friends in the movie.
However, Piolo Pascual shared in a previous interview that he enjoyed working with Vic Sotto and that he had a “kilig” feeling when he met the veteran star.
In a recent interview, based on the article in Abante, the Bossing Vic shared that when this movie project was offered to him, he was really hesitant because of its genre. “When Direk Mike first talked to me about the concept, about the film, sabi niya sa ‘kin it’s ganito, ganiyan, medyo na-shock ako,” he shared, referring to their movie director Michael Tuviera.
He also said that he was a bit apprehensive because it is a serious film and he was questioning his ability to pull off the character. “Sabi nga ni Direk, it’s a non-political, political film. Parang I was asking myself, bagay ba sa ’kin? And another question was — kaya ko ba ‘to?” the Eat Bulaga host said.
Eventually, after thinking about this, Vic was somehow clinging to accept the movie offer, Then, he opted to ask who would be his co-star in the film. When Piolo’s name was mentioned, Vic did not hesitate to say “yes.”
“And then finally medyo okey na sa akin. I asked him sinong mga kasama, sinong cast. Sabi ni Direk ‘We’re negotiating with Piolo Pascual.’ Okey, go na tayo sabi ko,” Bossing said, adding that not all movie, he will be with Piolo because they are from different networks.
Vic Sotto said that he could not simply let this opportunity pass to work with one of the premiere actors of this generation. He did not let his apprehensive win his desire to try a new genre and have a new experience as an actor.
