SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President said she requested the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to reschedule the summons to her over her remarks against President Bongbong Marcos.

The recent remarks of Vice Pres. Duterte against the Marcoses are seemingly causing her a lot of troubles. It only did not elicit criticisms from countless Filipinos but it also hooked the attention of the authorities.

Vice Pres. Duterte expressed that her “final wish” includes the deaths of Pres. Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her succeeds. Many people believe that her remarks triggered threats on the lives of the President, his wife, and his cousins.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos who rarely reacts to the tirades of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte issued a statement insisting that he won’t let a threat in his life pass. He stressed that there are several alarming statements now and it happens to him while he is in the top position. He raised a question on how easier it can be if the target is an ordinary individual.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmed that it will investigate the statement of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The justice department will also look into the remarks of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte who linked Marcos Jr. to drug use.

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) issued a subpoena for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over her remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President said she requested for the summons to her to be rescheduled.

According to Vice Pres. Duterte, she needs to prioritize the hearing at the House of Representatives where her staff members in the Office of the Vice President (OVP) will be questioned. The lower chamber has set inquiries over the OVP’s use of the Confidential Funds.

Based on the report, while the National Bureau of Investigation has yet to receive a formal copy of the request of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, investigation bureau director Jaime Santiago sees no problem in scheduling the NBI appearance of Duterte to another date.

“Wala naman hong problema, pupuwede naman ma-resched,” Santiago said.

Furthermore, based on the report, the NBI Director assured that the investigation of the remarks of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte would be “impartial”. Speaking to TeleRadyo Serbisyo, he stressed that they can’t remain silent as there is allegedly a threat so they need to step in to clarify the matter.

Previously, amid the speculations that the Vice President may be facing charges over her statements, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed his confidence that while charges may be filed against VP Sara, she cannot be jailed.
