Malacañang Reacts To Rodrigo Duterte’s Call to Military

Following Duterte’s Remarks, Malacañang Said Duterte Should Respect the Constitution

MALACAÑANG – The Palace reacted to the call of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the whole military to protect the Constitution.

The Dutertes are throwing tirades and taking swipes against the Marcoses. The public witnessed a souring relationship between Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos since her resignation from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).

Vice Pres. Duterte also claimed that Pres. Marcos is not really her friend. According to her, they only talked about the campaign and work. She stressed that her friend really is Senator Imee Marcos.

However, it caused a confusion among the public when Vice Pres. Duterte said she told Sen. Marcos that she will throw the body of Marcos Sr. into the West Philippine Sea if the alleged attacks against her don’t stop. When asked to rate his performance from 1-10 with 10 being the highest, the VP gave “one”.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also claimed that there are threats in her life. According to Duterte, the death of Pres. Bongbong Marcos is her “final wish” if an alleged plot against her succeeds. To this, the Chief Executive responded saying she won’t let a threat in his life just pass.

The President stressed that the rule of law must be upheld and the government officials including him have the responsibility to implement and protect the rules. Without directly mentioning Duterte, he stressed that the issue could have been done if only the legitimate questions of the Senators and the House members were answered.

Amid the issue between Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and Pres. Bongbong Marcos, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte called on the whole military to protect the Constitution. According to him, no one can correct Marcos as well as House Speaker Martin Romualdez. He also reiterated his previous claim linking the President to drugs.

Recently, Malacañang broke its silence on the call of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the whole military. Based on a report on GMA News, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said that the former Chief Executive should not go against the Constitution.

“The former president should respect the Constitution, not disobey it. He should desist from being as irresponsible as he has become,” the Palace said.

According to Malacañang, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte will allegedly go through lengths to the point of “insulting our professional armed forces by asking them to betray their oath, for his plan to succeed”. Based on the report, the Executive Secretary vowed that the Marcos admin will not shrink from its sworn duty.

”It will defend its legacy before the Filipino People only by lawful means,” Bersamin said.

Malacañang said that “power grabbing” is unacceptable. Based on the report, the Palace stressed that Duterte should wait for the right time and follow the right way. The National Bureau of Investigation or NBI has issued a subpoena for Vice Pres. Sara Duterte urging her to explain the threat against Marcos.
