Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray reacted to fans’ petition for her to be the main host of the Miss Universe competition.
Catriona’s pageant journey has become an inspiration for many beauty queen aspirants. Many pageant fans would say that she really set the bar higher in pageantry. Pinoy fans would always recall her performance every time a representative from the Philippines would not be able to bring home the crown.
It is a usual thing during international pageants, especially Miss Universe that Catriona’s name would also become a trending topic on social media.
For several times, Catriona Gray has been lauded for her performance as Miss Universe backstage correspondent. Being a former contestant, she could give a clear insight into what the candidates were going through during the pageant which many people do not see.
In the 73rd Miss Universe pageant, Catriona was once again praised by many pageant fans for her hosting skills. Since Pinay beauty queen Chelsea Manalo was not able to bring home the crown, Catriona became the “pambansang coping mechanism” of Pinoy pageant fans once again.
After the pageant, many people commented on social media that the next goal for Catriona is for her to be the main host of the prestigious beauty pageant. In a recent interview, based on the article in Abante, she was asked about this petition.
The Fil-Aussie celebrity said that she is open to this possibility. “I am open to the opportunity… kasi I understand what the girls are going through, the pressure and the emotions, their excitement,” she said.
She also said that she knows how it feels to be part of the audience and a backstage correspondent, so, being the main host and a judge are the roles she hasn’t played yet in Miss Universe.
When asked to react to people saying that she stood out among other pageant hosts even without consciously trying, she said that she was just doing her best. “I have the heart of the fans. I want to give them my all. I just want to be able to translate the joy of the pageant and for them to feel the energy per se of the live audience,” the fourth Pinay Miss Universe said.
