Customer Calls Out Fast-Food Pricing in the Philippines

Male Customer Calls Out Fast-Food Pricing in the Country, Saying, “A marketing scheme making you buy more”

A male customer went viral after calling out the pricing strategies in fast-food chains in the Philippines.

Recently, David Christopher Hizon, a Facebook user, pointed out what they believe to be odd pricing strategies in fast-food chains in the country. The post quickly circulated on social media and elicited reactions online.

Hizon points out how purchasing two single chicken meals is often cheaper than ordering a double chicken meal. What makes it even more puzzling, he said, is that the single meals come with extra rice and drinks, making it the better deal.

This pricing strategy left him questioning the logic behind it and why the double meal isn’t priced more competitively.

His post also discussed the waste generated by this setup. Since customers like Hizon tend to buy two single meals for better value, the extra packaging leads to unnecessary waste. He suggested that if fast-food chains adjusted their pricing to make the double meal more appealing, it could reduce both confusion and packaging waste.

Many netizens agreed that this might be a marketing strategy to encourage people to buy more. Others shared similar experiences, noting how pricing inconsistencies often push them to choose options they didn’t initially plan on ordering.

The discussion raises concern about pricing schemes in the fast-food industry, particularly when they lead to wasteful practices. It also raises questions about whether businesses are prioritizing profits over customer convenience and sustainability.

For so many years now, dumbfounded parin ako sa pricing ng fast-food chains sa Pilipinas

Like clearly 2 orders of the single chicken meal is NOT ONLY cheaper than one of the double, but you additionally get an extra cup of rice and drink! WHYYYYYY

I always end up tuloy ordering two of the single chicken meal and there’s just so much wastage when it comes to packaging etc lmao. If only they can make their pricing make sense so I can order the double instead.

EDIT: Yeah it’s probably a marketing scheme making you buy more but there’s so much wastage kasi sa packaging.
