PAGASA Says Amihan & Easterlies to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Wednesday (November 20, 2024)

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that the northeast monsoon and the easterlies will bring rains over some parts of the country.

On Wednesday (November 20, 2024), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and the easterlies will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country, particularly over extreme northern Luzon. The easterlies will be affecting the eastern section.

PAGASA

On Tuesday (November 19), the weather agency announced the start of the northeast monsoon, commonly known as the amihan season. Cold winds are expected to bring cooler weather during the Christmas season.

Amihan will bring cloudy weather conditions with rains over Batanes. The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over Babuyan Island.

“With these developments, the northeasterly wind flow is expected to be more dominant in most of the country, bringing cold and dry air. Episodes of wind and cold temperature surges, as well as increasing prevalence of rough sea conditions, especially over the seaboards of Luzon, are also expected in the coming months,” PAGASA said.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.

The easterlies will bring similar weather conditions over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

No low-pressure area is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Possible flash floods or landslides are expected due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms, according to PAGASA.

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over Extreme Northern Luzon will be rough. The rest of Northern Luzon will have moderate to rough waters. Slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions are expected over the rest of the country.
