Typhoon Pepito Update – PAGASA Says It Continues Rapidly Intesify

Here’s an update about Typhoon Pepito based on PAGASA.

TYPHOON PEPITO UPDATE – According to PAGASA, the typhoon continues to intensify and more areas are put under wind signals.

Based on a previous article, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) released an update. Accordingly, Typhoon Ofel continues to weaken but Pepito continues to intensify.

Ofel is set to exit the Philippine area of Responsibility by Friday afternoon but as Ofel leaves, Pepito enters PAR which will bring threats to several areas in the country.

Based on the latest from PAGASA posted 5 PM, the center was at 465 km East of Guiuan, Eastern Samar with an intensity of 150 km/h near the center for its maximum sustained winds and gustiness of up to 185 km/h.

Currently, it moves west northwestward at 30 km/h.

  • Aurora, Quezon, the eastern portion of Laguna (Santa Maria, Famy, Siniloan, Pangil, Mabitac, Pakil, Paete, Kalayaan, Lumban, Cavinti, Luisiana, Pagsanjan, Santa Cruz, Magdalena, Majayjay, Liliw, Nagcarlan, San Pablo City, Rizal), Marinduque, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate

Visayas

  • The rest of Northern Samar, the rest of Eastern Samar, the rest of Samar, and Biliran

Visayas

  • The eastern portion of Northern Samar (Mapanas, Gamay, Palapag, Lapinig, Silvino Lobos, Laoang, Catubig, Las Navas, Pambujan, Mondragon, San Roque, Catarman, Lope de Vega), the northern portion of Eastern Samar (Arteche, Oras, San Policarpo, Dolores, Jipapad, Maslog, Can-Avid), and the northeastern portion of Samar (San Jose de Buan, Matuguinao)

During the occurrence, the highest wind signal that may be hoisted is Signal No. 5.

In the next five days, Pepito is forecasted to move west northwestward and will likely make landfall in the vicinity of Catanduanes tomorrow evening, November 16, or morning of Sunday, November 17.

It is also not ruled out that at the same time frame, Pepito will make landfall over the eastern coast of Camarines Sur, Albay, or Sorsogon, over the eastern coast of Northern Samar tomorrow afternoon or evening, or along the eastern coast of Quezon or Aurora on Sunday afternoon or evening.

Pepito rapidly intensifies and will likely become a super typhoon before making landfall.
