Netizen on How Far P1,000 Can Go for Family of Six “pang isang araw lang”
A lady netizen has shared her perspective on how far P1,000 can go to cover daily expenses for a family of six.
Recently, Kimmy Bayoca, a Facebook user, shared her thoughts on how far P1,000 can stretch for a family of six. It shows the reality of budgeting on a tight income and elicits various reactions from the online community.
Bayoca detailed her family’s daily expenses, showing the challenges of making ends meet on a limited budget.
According to Bayoca, her family’s P1,000 daily budget starts with breakfast. She buys P30 worth of pandesal, two cups of coffee for P8, a Milo drink for P10, and an egg or noodles for P20 to ensure her children have something to eat before heading to school.
Additionally, their youngest child drinks milk three times a day, which adds to the daily cost. For her husband, who is out from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., she allots P100 for his daily allowance, while her three children each receive P30, totaling P90.
Lunch includes rice, which they buy in bulk for the week, and a dish that costs around P250 to cover both the family meal and her husband’s packed lunch.
In another post, a male netizen goes viral for sharing his ‘budget meal’: “wala ng budget kaka checkout”
In the afternoon, P50 goes toward snacks, but Bayoca mentioned that her children often ask for a bit more, which is hard to avoid. Dinner involves rice and a new dish, costing around P200, again ensuring there’s enough for her husband’s dinner and packed meal.
This brings the total daily expenses to approximately P758, not yet including small extras like transportation fares and occasional snacks.
The lady netizen emphasized that even P1,000 sometimes isn’t enough, especially with added costs like her husband’s cigarettes or when their children ask for small treats.
